Until recently, AI in EPM platforms was primarily associated with chatbots and text generation. Today, OneStream, IBM, and Anaplan are taking a fundamentally different approach with Agentic AI, where large language models work alongside a deterministic calculation engine and the platform’s security model. In this article, we examine what these three leading EPM vendors have in common, why they are converging on the same architectural approach, and what it means for finance teams.
